Working under general supervision, the Market Development Champion works to achieve sales, placement, and product mix goals by gaining distribution and merchandising support for King's Hawaiian Bakery products in through retail level selling. Employees in this position may interact with their leader several times week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require their leader’s advance approval, but most decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

MARKET DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop and execute business plans and sales strategies for assigned market.
  • Sell new and/or increased permanent placement in stores.
  • Ensure the correct distribution of approved items are in-stock and displayed.
  • Execute and amplify holiday and promotional events in designated accounts.
  • Educate store management on the brands story to drive more prominent displays in their stores.
  • Communicate with account managers and contracted retail brokers in markets on account/market developments.
  • Establish local, weekly broker calls to communicate selling and execution needs.
  • Order and place point of sale needs for market.
  • Attend and sell at market relevant trade shows and operational meetings.
  • Establish partnerships with local operations leaders, present business trends and opportunities, and brand resources.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.


PLANNING & COORDINATION

  • Prepare and execute annual sales plan for territory.
  • Measure key initiatives and market conditions in King’s Hawaiian retail tracking software.
  • Build monthly account coverage plan and prioritize critical customers.
  • Coordinate with region execution leads and brokers on point of sale delivery and execution.
  • Conduct at least 100 to 120 retail calls per month.


Basic And Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible experience in retail sales/Consumer product goods preferred.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Proficient organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate self-motivation and being a team player.
  • Ability to thrive in a very fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Ability to legally drive to various locations using corporate transportation.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate the values of excellence, dignity, saying it like it is in a way it can be heard; and curiosity, collaboration, critical thinking and emotional intelligence.

Compensation: 65k-85k
