Manager - Maintenance Engineering

What You Will Do

Manage and drive a continuous improvement philosophy, utilizing the tools of the Volvo Production System and other lean initiatives to meet present and future demands. Assure that processes are developed that meet and exceed expectations with respect to quality, cost and reliability. To provide leadership and guidance across a sectional level in the Operations Maintenance function, dealing directly and forthrightly with production, quality, supervision, and engineering, as required.

The ideal candidate for this position has an Associates Degree in a relevant field and five (5) years’ supervision experience in a manufacturing environment OR seven years minimum combined education and supervision experience within a manufacturing environment.

As the Manager of Maintenance Engineering, you will provide leadership and guidance to the team and develop a highly talented and flexible engineering team. Responsible for safety, quality, delivery, and cost of maintenance process, as well as projects/staff and competence development. This managerial role is also responsible for fostering a continuous improvement culture focused on waste elimination, employee engagement, and application/practice of lean theory.

Main Activities And Responsibilities For This Role

• Manage your Maintenance organization against set safety, quality, delivery, and financial targets by leading and coaching your team
• Continue the implementation of the Volvo Production System (VPS), which means implementing standardized ways of working, developing the organization, and achieving contributions from all employees
• Full accountability and ownership of your team’s development, UAW relations, project follow-up, midterm road map (0-1 year), and policy deployment from plant to operator level
