Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer to join our dynamic and innovative team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL programming and mainframe systems, along with a passion for creating efficient and reliable software solutions. As a Mainframe COBOL Developer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of our mainframe applications, ensuring their seamless integration with other systems and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

• COBOL Programming: Design, code, test, and debug COBOL programs to meet defined business requirements and functional specifications.
• System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate COBOL applications with other mainframe and distributed systems, ensuring smooth data flow and functionality.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance enhancements to improve the efficiency and responsiveness of existing COBOL applications.
• Code Review and Maintenance: Conduct regular code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Perform ongoing maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting of existing applications.
• Requirements Analysis: Work closely with business analysts and end-users to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to ensure the reliability and quality of COBOL applications.
• Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including program specifications, user manuals, and system documentation.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with other developers, system analysts, and stakeholders to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Version Control: Use version control systems to manage code repositories and track changes effectively.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mainframe COBOL Developer in a professional setting.
• Strong proficiency in COBOL programming language.
• Knowledge of mainframe systems and associated technologies (e.g., JCL, CICS, VSAM).
• Experience with database management systems (e.g., DB2) on the mainframe platform.
• Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
