Library Assistant, Nonfiction
- High School Graduate or GED
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
- Experience operating a computer, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to alphabetize
- Ability to maneuver among high and low shelves
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, evenings, and weekends
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks; push heavy carts, lift up to 40 lbs and maneuver among high and low shelves
Previous library experience
Sorts books into categories; shelves library materials; reads shelves; maintains appearance of book shelves; assists clerical staff as needed with processing books, taping spine labels, making copies, etc.; assists with programs; staffs service areas as needed; helps set-up meeting rooms; maintains appearance of area, keeping it neat and organized; customer service assists patrons with material selection; answers reader's advisory questions; assists patrons with Internet searches and electronic databases; processes materials; assists with programs; prepares and processes book holds, intra-library loans and inter-library loans; other duties as assigned.
