Job Title: Legislative and Policy Analyst

Location: Atlanta, GA 30303 (100% Onsite from Day 1)

Duration: 6 Months Contract (with a possible extension)

Job Description

Tracks legislation and other developments in his or her assigned issue areas and briefs the Chief of Staff, senior district leadership and Members of the Board of Education;

Monitors legislative developments within State House and Senate committees;

Monitors legislation on the State House and Senate floor, providing the Chief of Staff with

information on each vote;

Prepares for and attends legislative committee meetings and hearings;

Performs special projects assigned by the Chief of Staff;

Works well under pressure and handles stress;

Works a flexible schedule as necessary; and

Performs other duties as assigned.

A bachelor’s degree or higher education level is required (preferably in political science,

government, education. public policy, public administration, or pre-law) including strong academic credentials or some period of related experience or training in legislation, policy or equivalent is beneficial.

Skills & Knowledge

Thorough knowledge of the legislative process and of organization

Ability to perform the essential job functions above;

Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in advocating for the legislative

priorities of the Board of Education and Public Schools;

Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others;

Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and

professional manner;

Knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures;

Knowledge of office computer applications; and

Proficiency in word processing.
