SUMMARY

The Legal Counsel will be employed by the U.S. holding company of the KUKA Group, a global leader in the automation industry. He/she will be responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts, managing legal proceedings and advising the employees of the KUKA U.S. companies on all legal aspects of KUKA’s day-to-day business in the United States.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Draft, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including general contractor agreements, sales contracts, general terms and conditions, loan agreements, lease agreements, licensing agreements and cooperation agreements.
  • Legal proceedings, including employment-related disputes.
  • KUKA’s employees on all legal matters relevant for KUKA’s day-to-day business in the U.S., including administrative and regulatory matters.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • JD degree from an accredited law school and excellent academic record.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan. Licenses to practice law in other jurisdictions of the United States are a plus.
  • Two to four years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Inhouse experience in the automotive/automation industry preferred.
  • Experience in employment law, export control, and/or data privacy is a plus.



COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The successful candidate must be able to communicate legal issues and solutions clearly and concisely in a business-oriented manner. He/she must have the ability to effectively handle and resolve legal matters and negotiations. The candidate must be able to do quick and effective legal research, also in unknown areas of law. He/she must have the demonstrated ability to think and decide quickly and should have experience in working in a fast-paced, fluid and collegial corporate culture.
