The Role

As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, your scope of work will encompass various projects, including designing new power plants, retrofitting and upgrading existing power plants (involving liquid, gas, or steam process systems), industrial/process facilities, and other energy infrastructure projects. These projects will vary in size and location.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor junior staff as a discipline lead or project engineer, fostering project management skills and capabilities.
  • Determine technical approaches, validate design criteria, and perform detailed design tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Develop process flow diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, mass and energy balances, and conduct system hydraulic modelling and pipe stress analysis.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with clients, coordinate technical efforts within discipline areas, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare engineering reports, cost estimates, and technical specifications for equipment and materials.
  • Lead and mentor 2D/3D designers and less experienced engineers to develop designs and prepare drawings.
  • Conduct occasional field visits for observations, data collection, and documentation efforts.
  • Consult with construction personnel on design constructability and adhere to quality assurance standards.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited four-year college.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Proficiency in pipe stress analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.


Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with H2 fuel systems.
  • Background in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Project experience as a task lead, project engineer, or project manager.
