Established in 2023, New Carrot Company, operating under the name Bolthouse Fresh Foods, is headquartered in the California Central Valley community of Bakersfield. Specializing in carrot production, the company caters to both retail and food service operations and is renowned for its Bolthouse Farms brand, widely distributed in major retailers across the United States and Canada.
Bolthouse Fresh Foods is a subsidiary of Butterfly Equity, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm with a specialty in the food sector. Butterfly Equity's expertise spans the entire food value chain, from 'seed to fork,' with a focus on agriculture & aquaculture, food & beverage products, food distribution, and foodservice.

Responsibilities
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Ag operations Intern will help the entire Ag operations team while providing the opportunity for a student to learn what goes into growing the perfect carrot. This role will serve as the day-to-day administrative and tactical duties. Ag operation team members will collaborate and develop weekly schedules for the Intern so both parties time is used most efficiently.

Responsibilities

- Drive to producer fields throughout California (Avenal, Cuyama, Lancaster and Salinas) for sample collectionCollect samples and record data for research trials
- Grade and sort carrots according to factors such as color, length, width, appearance, feel and quality to ensure correct processing and usage
- Attend weekly staff meetings and report progress
- Provide data entry assistance
- Communicate with Managers to provide information and help with ongoing projects across all the farming operation
- Assist with other farming projects, such as research work
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and work as a team player
- Ability to be ready and willing to work in a fast-paced always-changing environment
- Basic computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Detailed oriented, excellent organizational skills, excellent communication skills
- Work well with little supervision and instruction
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with staff
- High School Diploma
- Currently enrolled in an Agriculture major
- Knowledge of Conventional and Organic Farming practices, including weed, insect and disease management methods preferred
- Valid California Driver’s license
- Environmental exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions
- Ability to walk over uneven surfaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- During the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognize that certain “non-essential worker” personnel may at times store consumer-facing materials (including, but not limited to, EADs, coupons, promotional materials, etc.) offsite from Company locations, such as at associates’ homes or in vehicles. All such consumer-facing materials must be maintained in a smoke-free and secure workplace environment .
