We are partnered with a dynamic and rapidly expanding healthcare firm who is building innovative care programming nationwide. They are seeking an experienced HR Compliance / Employment Law Program Manager to join their team. This role is pivotal in ensuring their labor practices and policies are in full compliance with state and federal employment regulations as they continue to grow. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of direct employment law experience, preferably within a startup environment, and possess a deep understanding of the complexities of employment regulations across multiple states.


This role is largely remote, but with an expectation of travel into the greater NYC-area headquarters 1-2 times per month. Candidates based in NY area are preferred.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive HR compliance programs to ensure adherence to all applicable state and federal employment laws.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on employment law, providing guidance and support to HR and management teams on compliance-related issues.
  • Monitor and analyze changes in employment law and regulations, ensuring timely updates and communication of necessary policy modifications.
  • Conduct regular audits of firm practices and procedures to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Design and deliver training programs for staff and management on employment law and compliance topics.
  • Collaborate with legal team as needed to address complex employment law issues and manage employment-related disputes. Serve as a liaison between human resources and legal departments to ensure accurate and compliant documentation and communication.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Support the development and implementation of employee relations strategies to foster a compliant and positive workplace culture.
  • Lead and manage special projects related to HR compliance and employment law as needed.


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of direct employment law experience, with a strong preference for experience in a startup or fast-growing company.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment. Able to commute into greater NYC-area 1-2 times per month.
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
