Our growing Silicon Valley based client is looking for a Head of Tax to report to their CAO and handle all areas of corporate tax, including compliance (which is outsourced), provision (currently outsources, but likely to bring that in-house), and indirect tax. An understanding of or experience with tax incentives, credits, and grants is also helpful. This is an in-office environment, so this person should be able to be in the office in San Jose at least 3 and ideally 4 days/week.

Required Experience:

Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740 for a US-based multi-national corporation

Experience with tax accounting and reporting under US GAAP in multinational context, including accounting for uncertain tax positions, and accounting for stock-based compensation

Experience with US federal and state corporate tax and Sales tax compliance

Strong analytical thinking and writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Proven ability to conduct thorough tax research

Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational leadership

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience in a fast moving, high growth environment with ability to react quickly to unexpected challenges and opportunities

Good business sense and ability to generate insightful analysis

Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to communicate complex subject matter to leadership, peers and other levels in the company without a tax background

Extremely well organized and able to manage work requirements to meet reporting deadlines
