Job Summary:

The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach will direct the men’s intercollegiate lacrosse program.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia College’s vision, mission and values, and contributes to the development of the Athletics Department. Administer a competitive program to include organizing, supervising, and maintaining a schedule of practices and events, planning and directing physical conditioning programs, and instructing student-athletes in strategies and performance principles.
  • Support the individual educational goals of student-athletes and provide opportunities for academic assistance to student-athletes if required, monitoring the academic progress of each participating student-athlete.
  • Maintain the integrity of the athletic program through knowledge and application of NAIA rules and regulations. Demonstrate a working knowledge of NAIA rules. Inform and educate student-athletes of all appropriate NAIA eligibility rules.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes.
  • Be active in all department-wide fund raising and related professional activities.
  • Maintain a balanced men’s lacrosse budget.
  • Be supportive of all athletic teams and other athletic department personnel.
  • Hold membership in appropriate national associations and be active in related professional activities.
  • Attend all staff meetings.
  • Practice superior customer service.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Display respect and civility to all constituencies regardless of method of communication.
  • Attend work timely and during the established hours of operation on a regular basis; work additional hours as business necessitates.

Skills:

  • Ability to fluently read, write and understand the English language.
  • Proficiency with the following, but not limited to: instructing; speaking; management of personnel resources; judgment and decision making; monitoring; coordination; learning strategies; critical thinking; active listening; social perceptiveness.
  • Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
  • Proficiency for using web-based technologies, including database systems.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment, with or without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills with all constituents.


Education:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Coaching experience at the High School or collegiate level.
  • Competitive playing experience at the collegiate level.


Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Three years successful coaching experience at the collegiate level.


Special Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment, and on an annual basis, during employment.
  • Ability to pass a drug test as a condition of employment, and during employment, and on a random basis or as required if probable cause or reasonable suspicion.
  • Over-night and out-of-state travel required.
  • Valid US State Driver License.
  • Must meet and maintain requirements as an approved driver for Columbia College.
  • Evening and weekend hours required.
