FX Trader Associate


Position Overview

The FX Trader is an integral part of the Global Markets FX team and will be supporting the FX market making in G10. He / she will contribute to the team’s strategic and financial goals through both quantitative analysis and trading activities.


Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the bank’s systems for pricing electronic FX on a day to day basis, to ensure that all systems are operating as intended and performing within defined risk / P+L parameters.
  • Producing client analytics from source price and trading data to enable monitoring and profiling of eFX client flow to ensure that it is priced and risk managed optimally.
  • Researching defensive/opportunistic pricing strategies related to economic announcements and data releases, including fixing, and algorithmic execution
  • Producing execution analytics from source price and trading data to enable monitoring and profiling of BBVA executions into the market, their associated impact and success at reaching best price for the bank.
  • Producing analytics and critical performance reviews/TCA data on benchmarking operations and executions.
  • Liaising with Sales and other Traders to establish the correct handling/pricing of given client flow on a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Conducting critical analysis of, and contributing new requirements and ideas to the development process of eFX price making engines, risk management and execution engines.
  • Establish, maintain and communicate Roadmap/Backlogs of enhancements
  • Coordination amongst geographies to ensure full knowledge and use of all existing and proposed product capabilities
  • Intervening (ultimately directly in the market but initially by interacting with voice or eFX trading colleagues) to mitigate unwanted eFX risk where appropriate.
  • Acquiring the necessary skills for pricing and risk managment of the voice activity of spot, NDFs and options with the ultimate idea of being able to progressively assume responsibility in that segment and be a tactical backup when needed.


Requirements

● 2-3 years in a quantitative role related to the financial industry (Quantitative Analyst/Trader,

Data Scientist, Quantitative Economist, etc).

● Technical degree and/or Masters in Quantitative Finance, Data Science or related qualification

● Exposure to the design of both pricing and execution algorithms

● Experience in using one or more statistical programming / data management languages.

(E.g.SQL, Python, Java, Q) or other financial tools.

● Previous experience using financial information tools (Reuters, Bloomberg)

● Experience using real time analytics tools (KX/Kdb) highly desirable

● Experience with NDFs and options highly desirable

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $140,000 to $175,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
