Join Our Team as a Controller!

Are you a seasoned financial professional with a passion for precision and strategic insight? Truly Free Inc. and Truly Free Market, Inc. are seeking a dedicated Controller to oversee our finance department. As the Controller, you will play a vital role in managing our financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and driving strategic financial decisions alongside our executive team.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:


-Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting functions of both Companies

-Coordinate the preparation of and publish internal and external financial statements

-Manage team members providing guidance, mentorship and putting team members in position to succeed while developing their skills and providing them with opportunity for growth

-Coordinate activities of external accountants and auditors.

-Coordinate the Companies’ planning processes

-Assist CFO in reporting performance against Plan and financial outlooks

-Evaluate accounting processes, workflows and internal control systems.

-Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases as needed.

-Develop, monitor and report on business performance metrics.

-Oversee regulatory reporting to include tax planning and compliance.

-Hire and train skilled accounting staff as required.

-Assist CFO with optimization of Companies’ financial resources

-Perform cost analysis

-Identify and pursue opportunities for cost reduction

-Assist CFO with creation and implementation of variable compensation and incentive plans

-Assist CFO with forecasts and projections

-Collaborate with HR in order to ensure time & attendance procedures are timely and accurate.

-Provide guidance and assist in the development of company policy and procedures as necessary.

-Provide leadership to ensure that the mission, ethical values, and core guiding principles of the Companies are put into practice.

-Ensure all employees work in a safe & healthful environment free from discrimination.

-Provide direct oversight and guidance for all administrative functions ensuring the highest standards are met for each aspect under the position’s cognizance.

-Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.

Qualifications and Competencies:

-A Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration or Accounting.

-Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounting.

-Experience may be substituted for education or a combination of both may be considered.

-Proven record of accomplishment as a successful Controller in a similar size and scope organization

-Excellent ability to communicate both orally and in writing to all levels of management & staff, both internal and external to the Companies.

-Full understanding of accounting fundamentals and practices.

-Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills.

-Strong people management and talent development skills.

-Proven computer knowledge to include proficiency with accounting software

-Must possess a valid driver’s license.

-Must be able to maintain a high degree of patience and offer constructive criticism.

-Sound business judgment, confidentiality, demonstrated ability to exhibit consistent, impartial decision-making, proven consensus builder, strong negotiation skills toward equitable solutions, and commitment to fostering open, candid communication across the company.

-Must be legal to work in the United States and successfully pass a background check.
