About The Role

Time Study is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to join our finance team. In this role, you will oversee all financial and accounting activities of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and accounting, and have a proven track record of success in a similar role. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys doing both the strategic and tactical work. The Financial Controller will report directly to the CEO.

  • Working Hours: Flexible part-time role with an estimated commitment of 15 hours per week within our core business-hours (9a-5p ET)

Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the company
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage the financial reporting process and present financial information to the CEO, board, and investors
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and prepare financial reports for management
  • Forecast cash flow positions, manage cash flow, and provide recommendations to support business decisions and drive financial and operational efficiencies across the organization

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Prepare and oversee periodic forecasts and annual budgets and drive cross-functional accountability
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to drive business growth
  • Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives
  • Participate in the development of business plans, including financial projections and risk assessments

Compliance & Tax

  • Ensure compliance with US accounting standards
  • Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
  • Review and manage all banking, vendor, and client agreements


Requirements

What We're Looking For (Ideal Candidates)

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a financial controller or in a similar role, preferably in a startup environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards
  • Proven Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Prior experience in a high-growth, venture-backed startup environment is a plus
