Financial Controller

Summary

Responsible for the management of all accounting and financial functions for multiple entities. Primary responsibilities include management of the monthly close process, monthly, quarterly, and annual billings to clients for services provided, billing reimbursements from clients, collection of accounts receivable, oversite of the accounting team, preparation of the annual budget, assist in the preparation of annual tax return preparation and all treasury administration. The Controller will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the day to day operations and personnel of the Accounting group including the assignment of work, mentoring, training, and addressing personnel issues.
  • Manage the month end and year end close process to pre-established deadlines which includes review and posting of journal entries as needed to reflect the monthly activity.
  • Prepare and publish monthly financial statements and any related actual to budget variance analysis and well as prepare the year-to-date cash flow statement.
  • Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances, maximize the return on any excess cash balances and fund bank accounts to ensure coverage for outgoing funds.
  • Oversee all InCommunity invoicing and collections activities to ensure outstanding receivables balances are resolved.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance and communicate/train accounting personnel on technical accounting issues.
  • Assist in maintaining records for retirement accounts (i.e. 401k plan)
  • Maintenance of fixed asset records where necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective.
  • Coordinate and manage the year-end financial audit and any regulatory audits that may arise.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting relevant to accounting.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Assist with preparation of the annual tax return information.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

This position will supervise the overall daily, weekly, monthly and annual activities of the Accounting department as well as all Accounting personnel.

Education And/or Experience

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or related field from four-year college or university with a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing an Accounting function. CPA is required.
