Financial Analyst

Job Summary

The Financial Analyst will be a key member of the Strategic Planning & Analysis team and will be responsible for many essential aspects of commercial real estate corporate finance, including creating actionable analytics, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The SP&A team acts as a trusted partner in providing analytical advisory to all departments of Westwood Financial, driving strategic decision making and ensuring continued growth. The ideal candidate needs to be highly dynamic and will transform raw data into structured information, which will then be analyzed to glean insights that drive strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce actionable analytics ranging from leasing statistics to property management/operational analysis.

• Create macro / micro economic analysis through industry publications and compare public REIT statistics to Westwood’s own performance, including but not limited to:

o Leasing / occupancy trends

o Capital markets trends

o Financial performance statistics

o Retails performance indicators

o Cap Rate matrix

• Research and apply critical thinking to industry trends, competitors, and current events to provide relevant business insights

• Assist in executive requests from Leasing, Transactions, Finance on all ad-hoc analytical research and presentations

• Create and collaborate on long term predictive financial models to guide strategic decision-making

• Assist in producing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts through Argus Enterprise - interact with Leasing, Property Management, Capital Markets, and Accounting

• Assist in the implementation of Argus Enterprise updates on all properties

• Display a high level of problem solving in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or

cross-functional challenges

Qualifications (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience)

• Bachelor’s Degree; 2-4 years of experience

• Prior experience in working with Real Estate Accounting, Finance and/or Budgeting preferred

• Ambitious, hard-working, collaborative, and high attention to detail

• Strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task / solve complex problems

• Energetic, proactive approach to work and the ability to self-motivate

• Professional attitude and an internal customer-service orientation

• Proven track record of working closely with senior level managers and executives

• Must be proficient in Microsoft and Office suite of services; strong with Excel - modeling experience and ability to manipulate large data sets
