About The Opportunity

Job Summary:

The Financial Aid Counselor is responsible for advising and counseling full and part-time undergraduate students/families on the availability of financial aid, the delivery process for receiving it, and the reconciliation processes required to ensure that financial aid funds are transferred to student accounts. The Financial Aid Counselor role is a hybrid position after an initial on-boarding period. Standard work hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday with some weekend/evening hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review federal and institutional student aid applications
  • Perform federal verification and review files to determine student need based aid eligibility
  • Utilize professional judgement and review and evaluate appeal requests
  • Counsel and advise undergraduate students and families on eligibility and financing options
  • Make adjustments to financial aid based on changes in student eligibility


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant experience
  • Experience in student personnel administration, preferably in financial aid or student accounts
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate well by telephone and email, in addition to face-to-face interactions
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem solving skills
