Accounting Manager

As our first Finance & Accounting direct hire, you will work directly with the CEO and collaborate closely with leaders across sales, marketing, and operations teams to track & drive performance. The ideal candidate will have a strategic and analytical mindset.


Job Responsibilities:


Reporting:

  • Manage monthly close process to issue timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and necessary corporate reports in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Support Operational initiatives with P&L forecasting, expense analysis, and reporting of results.
  • Generate and track key financial performance metrics. Own key corporate reporting requirements to the Board of Directors and Executive Team


Budgeting & Financial Modeling:

  • Lead/Support preparation of annual budget, periodic forecasts, and detailed financial build and analyses. Provide support to the CEO as needed for fundraising.
  • Consult on financial review of business case justifications for cross-functional projects with appropriate project leads to identify value and investment implications


Accounting Management:

  • Manage accounting operations, including outsourced bookkeeper, and ensure all accounting information is properly captured and categorized. Manage working capital including inventory to optimize cash flow.
  • Performs a variety of advanced financial analysis projects. Projects can include cash flow analysis, ROI analysis, and working capital analysis


Trade Analysis & Deductions Management:

  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of trade promotions. Manage deductions and disputes with third-party support.
  • Support the impact of promotions, price changes, and new region growth rates.


Strategic Support:

  • Support sales projections and identify opportunities to improve profitability through customer, product, and cost reporting. Assist with ad hoc analysis and reports to drive sales & profitability.
  • Consult on financial review of business case justifications for cross-functional projects with appropriate project leads to identify value and investment implications


Tax, Insurance, and HR Compliance:

  • Support various tax requirements including payroll employer tax, sales and use tax, etc.
  • Support external firm with annual income tax filings
  • Ensure appropriate insurance coverage and HR compliance, including state & city registrations and filings


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. MBA, CPA or MA a plus but not required
  • 5+ years of FP&A experience and 3+ years of food and beverage experience (or CPG), investment banking experience also preferred.
  • Extensive experience with cash flow management, general and cost accounting, sales analysis, and working with senior leadership.
  • Advanced Excel skills, extensive QuickBooks experience, and strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Strong written, analytical and problem-solving skills with proven experience in driving process improvement.
  • Detail oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast growth startup environment and wear multiple hats as needed. Working collaboratively in a remote team environment. We’re looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude, who can work independently.
  • Opportunity for occasional travel to SF HQ and trade shows as needed up to 10%.
