The Opportunity

 

We are seeking a curious, creative, analytical and detail oriented Finance and Accounting Manager to lead our finance and accounting department. You will report directly to the CEO and work alongside the executive team to develop financial reporting, manage the day-to-day accounting, prepare monthly financials and coordinate any tax filings. 

 

Key Capabilities

 

  • Finance and Accounting Acumen: Detailed understanding of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow generation and accounting standards to support the business
  • Analytics: Conduct clear, fact-based and data driven analysis to inform key decisions
  • Prioritization: Define plans and activities that prioritize key initiatives to support the business day-to-day and deliver value for the business
  • Communication: Develop presentations and other documents that clearly and concisely communicate key ideas, insights and actions
  • Relationships: Develop strong relationships with cross-functional business partners across the company to inform and support the development of financials and plans
  • Leadership: Exhibit leadership and influencing skills including the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders, deliver results, manage ambiguity and influence others

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare budgets and forecasts, variance analyses, long-term planning
  • Prepare accurate and streamlined month-end reporting packages, financial reports, presentations, and other management needs for internal and external needs
  • Oversee GL, Fixed Assets, A/P, A/R, Payroll, Inventory, COGS and record JEs
  • Prepare reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts
  • Monitor budget on a periodic basis to track performance
  • Serve as Finance liaison to departments by working closely with them in understanding their business, supporting their initiatives, and general financial inquiries
  • Monitor daily banking activities and prepare cash forecast. Record daily incoming cash from Shopify store.
  • Review and code credit card transactions and vendor invoices for AP consultant
  • Monthly reconciliation of multi state sales tax against the GL/Shopify, leveraging sales tax automation (TaxJar)
  • Prepare various indirect taxes, reporting, and business licenses renewals
  • Manage company employee credit card program and expense processing in Ramp
  • Work closely with the external tax accounting firm for annual tax filing
  • Partner with team leaders to ensure accuracy for sales, spend, and all other KPIs
  • Enforce company accounting and spending policies

 

This role would ideally be in the Pacific time zone, with occasional travel to Los Angeles for

team meetings.


Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with a Finance or Accounting emphasis
  • 3+ years accounting experience
  • Possesses skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables), proficiency in Microsoft office suite and Google office suite
  • Ability to understand US GAAP, working knowledge of general ledger operations & experience in financial analysis
  • Ability to be detail oriented and accurate, as this position requires a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to problem-solving skills to be able to resolve and propose solutions to general process impediments.
  • Possesses skills in identifying and capturing key data and processes
  • Able to multi-task, work in a fast-paced-dynamic environment, detail oriented, and committed to meeting time sensitive deadlines
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online required
  • Familiarity with Tableau, Ramp, Bill.com, TaxJar, Shopify, Affirm, and Dropbox
