Your impact:
Hearst Magazines’ Central Commerce Team is looking for a commerce editor to pitch, write, and edit commerce content for our portfolio of fashion and luxury brands, including Harper's BAZAAR, ELLE, Esquire, Town & Country, ELLE Décor, and Veranda.
The ideal person for this gig is not only obsessed with online shopping and finding noteworthy up-and-coming products, but also cares deeply about discovering the best new items from small and emerging businesses. We’re looking for an experienced writer and editor with a passion for the luxury market, a pulse on what’s fresh and exciting in the space, and who is well-versed in using data and reporting tools to inform editorial ideas.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of merchants across the fashion, beauty, and home categories and create content for our various distribution channels. You should be skilled at making data-driven decisions and seeking out new opportunities based on content trends. This position will report to the Senior Commerce Editor, Fashion & Luxury.

Responsibilities:
- Write, update, or edit 1-3 shopping-focused pieces of content daily that maintain the brands’ taste levels and sensibilities.
- Stay on top of the latest deals and work with our preferred retailers to plan for sale events and upcoming launches.
- Track performance of content to inform and execute on new areas of opportunity to increase affiliate commerce revenue.
- Work closely with Hearst’s Commerce team to maintain best practices in order to meet ambitious revenue goals.
- 3+ years of experience as a writer, with a minimum of 1 at a digital-first outlet — a background in commerce, particularly within the fashion and luxury space, is a plus.
- Sharp writing and self-editing skills and a talent for turning around clean, accurate copy.
- Strong angling and packaging skills and an understanding of SEO and social best practices.
- Ability to understand analytics and translate them into editorial action — familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker, Skimlinks, or similar reporting tools is a plus.
- Comfortable juggling multiple projects simultaneously and working independently.
- Well-versed in building strong relationships and explaining complex topics in simple terms.
- Available to work major shopping holidays.
