Salary:

PLNU pays its faculty using a pay scale based on experience and academic rank. Faculty salaries using this scale for a 3-semester appointment range from $83,721 to $113,916. The actual salary will be based on the experience, rank, and appointment term of the candidate selected to fill this position.


Job Description:

The College of Health Sciences is seeking candidates for a full-time, 12-month faculty position in the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program (MSOT). Desired candidates should be capable of excellent teaching, committed to significant involvement with students both within and outside of the classroom, and interested in participating in the academic unit’s service learning and/or graduate research.


The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program has a strong commitment to quality teaching, a passion for building Christian community with students, a tradition of high impact academic practices, and experience in using our skills for collaborative and interdisciplinary work.


Responsibilities begin summer 2024 and will include teaching a wide variety of courses in occupational therapy.

 

Responsibilities:


●       Provide instruction in occupational therapy including courses related to adult conditions and other OT courses based on area(s) of clinical expertise and candidate’s interests.

●     Successful candidates will work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, and community members.

●     Assist in curriculum development for new courses.

●     Advise students academically, spiritually, and socially.

●     Participate in departmental activities and governance.

●     Act as a representative to community partners.

●     May serve as a supervisor to students during fieldwork in role emerging settings.

●     Engage in personal scholarship and scholarship with students (where possible).

●     Remain current and up to date on regulations and laws related to the profession.

●     Serve on university and college faculty committees/working groups.

●     Contribute to preparing students for their post graduate career and finding who they are called to be.


Qualifications:

Required


●     Entry-Level Doctorate in Occupational Therapy or a Post-Professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy or a terminal degree in another field.

●     Evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching.

●     OT licensure, or eligibility for licensure in the State of CA.

●     Minimum of five years of experience as an OT.

●     Program development as shown by the ability to analyze, develop and implement new activities or programs.

●     Evidence of a commitment to lifelong learning.

●     Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian graduate education and a desire to work in a Christian university. Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.

●     Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, faculty agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.


Preferred:

●       Ph.D. or terminal doctoral degree in another field.

●       Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds on a graduate level.

●      Clinical experience in adult occupational therapy physical disability practice.

●      Experience supervising others (i.e., groups, staff, peers, students).


Selection Process:

Applicants will be expected to apply and submit corresponding documents. All applicants will be reviewed and evaluated. From this pool of applicants, a limited number will be selected and moved forward in the process. The interview process may include:


●     Phone/Zoom Interview

●     Dialogue with students and faculty in the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program and College of Health Sciences.

●     Lecture presented to faculty and students in the College of Health Sciences.

●     Evidence of successful teaching, if applicable.

●     Interview with the MSOT Program Director and OT faculty.

●     Interview with the Dean of the College of Health Sciences.

●     Interview with the Provost.

●     Interview with the President of the University.
