The Executive Director (EDA) of Academics serves as a senior academic officer of the organization and is responsible for academic programs. This includes program review and improvement, assessment of student learning and advancement of student success, academic personnel decisions, budget development, fiscal accountability, program and curriculum development, and the encouragement and improvement of teaching and learning.
Qualifications
Education/Certification and Experience
Master’s degree from an accredited institution or comparable experience
5 + years of senior administrative level leadership and experience
5 + years of K-12 teaching experience with a demonstrated student-centered philosophy of education
5+ years of experience in K-12 school administration, preferably in the public sector
Experience with state regulations and requirements related to Career Technical Education (CTE) and College, Career, Military Readiness (CCMR)
Demonstrated skill in articulating, identifying, and developing instructional expertise in teachers and school leaders, with a deliberate focus on student learning
Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, project management, fiscal management linking resource allocation to planning and priorities, data-driven decision-making, and leading the ongoing efforts of the organization to meet and exceed improvement goals
Experience working with multiple educational models catering to diverse student populations
Experience designing, implementing and directing professional development programs
Demonstrated record of fiscal responsibility and accountability
Demonstrated advocacy for and addressing the needs of a variety of student populations
Demonstrated commitment to academic quality and standards
Demonstrated support for faculty and staff development
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge and experience in teaching and learning
Knowledge and experience in educational program design, development, implementation, and assessment
Knowledge and expertise in College, Career, Military Readiness (CCMR) and Career Technical Education (CTE)
Experience with multiple educational models
Ability to operate comfortably in a fast, fluid, dynamic, and rapidly growing environment
Ability to interpret student test data
Ability to coach and development others to implement a corrective or supplemental action/ strategies for continuous improvement
Knowledge and experience in curriculum selection development and innovation
Working knowledge of state accountability systems
Ability to work with the highest levels of a district or organizational administration
Ability to facilitate difficult conversations at all levels of an organization, when necessary
An understanding of ResponsiveEd’s mission, its educational and financial situation, the laws and regulations of Texas, and the ever-changing role of charter education
Primary Duties
Oversees the departments and programs responsible for school improvement, CCMR, CTE, Prekindergarten, and MTSS.
Provides strong, dynamic academic and administrative leadership fosters an exemplary educational environment which encourages teaching, and learning excellence
Possesses the vision to guide the organizations academic programs into the future
Advocates and promotes quality instruction, student success, and integrated planning to meet the educational needs of students in multiple educational models
Works within a team to analyze data, coordinate services (such as Special Education and Title Programs), and implement strategies and initiatives to improve teaching, learning, and leadership
Works with the instructional staff to oversee, coordinate and ensure school-level support and development of teaching, learning, and leadership excellence
Oversees the design and implementation of comprehensive professional development for team and school
Provides innovative and successful academic leadership and vision in teaching and learning
Works collaboratively with the senior academic team and school brand leadership to select, review, purchase, and support implementation of new curriculum
Works with senior academic team to review student performance data, through the lens of teaching and learning, as well as achievement, to meet brand and district standards
Provides guidance to, and receives direction from the Chief Academic Officer and other representative stakeholders regarding the planning, implementation and review of academic programs, services, activities and related matters
Participates in the planning of new facilities for the purposes of instruction and student services
Understands and promotes the role and use of technology in the instructional environment
Represents the organization as a senior academic officer at state meetings and conferences, serves as organization’s representative on committees, commissions, and other activities, makes presentations at meetings, workshops, and events, as assigned
Prepares, submits, and monitors the annual budget for areas of responsibilities
Trains, supervises, evaluates, and directs the work of assigned personnel
Completes all other related duties as assigned
