Description

Creates and manages the overall strategy for board and volunteer engagement within the Division of Advancement and Alumni's priorities and goals. Directs opportunities for leaders of industry, executive leaders, and donors to serve the university with a goal of progressing strategic initiatives by serving on advisory committees, leadership boards and think tanks. Oversees strategic engagement of volunteer leaders by working collaboratively to ensure high-quality and meaningful engagement.

  • Lead and manage the Board and Volunteer Engagement team by developing a mission, vision and annual goals that complement the Division's strategic plan; sets overall direction for the team.
  • Builds and implements effective nomination, onboarding and engagement programs that support the University's goals and objectives.
  • Plans and executes executive leadership volunteer opportunities on advisory committees, leadership boards and think tanks, as a direct component of philanthropic giving for the Division of Advancement and Alumni.
  • Cultivates and steward's relationships with major donors to coordinate volunteer leadership opportunities and continued donor engagement strategies. Acts as a University representative to ensure donors and volunteers are connected and acclimated to the committee on which they serve.
  • Provides leadership for designing, collaborating around, and implementing communication strategies so that volunteer engagement and recognition is consistent in publications, events, and custom engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborates with Division partners and campus clients to develop effective volunteer engagement and recognition opportunities to complement major and principal gift fundraising.
  • Collaborate with college/school/unit-based development colleagues to develop and implement volunteer participation strategies for each area's fundraising business plan.
  • Serves as an internal consultant, collaborator, and leader with colleagues in Annual Giving, Major and Principal Gifts, Gift Planning, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Constituent Engagement, Prospect Research, IT and all fundraising units, and the UH Alumni Association, as determined.
  • Administers the department budget and personnel.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors and 7 years experience

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.

Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education
