NPR seeks to hire an experienced and dynamic Donor Events Manager as an integral member of the Development team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, an understanding of donor events, and a firm understanding of project management. The position will contribute to the execution of regional and national events. They will have a service-oriented approach and thrive in a fast-paced, creative, results-oriented culture.

The Donor Events Manager is responsible for project management of all donor events designed to engage public radio donors and to connect more deeply with public audiences. S/he will work closely with various other stakeholders including a broad range of NPR staff and talent, Member stations, NPR Foundation Board members on a portfolio of work that includes a series of donor-hosted salon events, board meetings, and other fundraising and outreach efforts. S/he employs current and new technologies and best practices in event planning and production to facilitate donor relationship management aligned with NPR’s fundraising priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Manager of Donor Events to execute a robust donor events strategy to deepen connections between NPR and supporters of public radio
  • Identify event programming opportunities that align NPR’s editorial goals and critical fundraising priorities to inspire donors to deepen their support
  • Serve as primary contact for all NPR donor events including:
    • NPR Foundation Board meetings
    • donor-hosted salon style events
    • virtual donor events
  • Manage operational logistics for donor events, including negotiation of vendor contracts, management of venue relationship, budget monitoring, expense processing, and other duties as needed
  • Work with team members across division to determine objectives, scope, timeline, and success metrics
  • On-sight staffing placement and talent management for assigned events
  • Manage the organization of briefing materials, including itineraries, talking points, etc. for NPR management and talent
  • Liaise cross-divisionally to secure talent and manage company-wide event calendars and opportunities
  • Draft all event communications, invitations, and promotional materials
  • Ensure regular, clear communications to ensure staff transparency for events

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills

  • Experience with managing budgets
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Strong writing skills
  • Willingness to embrace and contribute to rigorous and long-term, strategic planning
  • Willingness to adjust to shifting plans and priorities
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Willingness to travel as needed – Less than 25%

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in Salesforce or other fundraising software
  • Understanding and experience with a diversity of fundraising events

WORK LOCATION: This is a hybrid permitted role. The employee will be required to be onsite at our Washington, DC office or onsite at event locations TBD at least 10 days a year. The employee must also reside in an NPR supported location based on the number of onsite days they choose.

JOB TYPE

  • This is a full time, exempt position.

Compensation

Salary Range: The U.S. based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $82,000 - $90,000 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.

Benefits: NPR offers access to comprehensive benefits for employees and dependents. Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR’s benefits options. Plan options include medical, dental, vision, life/ accidental death and dismemberment, long-term disability, short-term disability, and voluntary retirement savings to all eligible NPR employees.
