Montrose’s Advisory and Specialty Services Division supports clients across public and private sectors to meet their unique and complex environmental demands. Our experts take a strategic approach to address broader environmental goals from sustainability program development, data-driven decision-making using economics and ecology expertise, data management and validation, software strategy and implementation support, chemistry quality assurance, and EHSS auditing. We work through our highly-specialized practice areas to deliver excellent quality, impactful solutions based on data integrity.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Environmental Intern position is located in CA-Remote.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Compliance Intern, to join our EHSS Advisory Services Division. This position is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in environmental regulatory compliance, and project coordination in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment.

As a key member of the EHSS Advisory Services Division team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

Assist in conducting regulatory research and analysis to support various industrial clients remain compliant with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

  • Support environmental audits and field visits to various project sites to collect data and assist with compliance verification processes.
  • Help in preparing and maintaining reports related to environmental compliance activities, including audit findings, regulatory submissions, and compliance tracking.
  • Participate in project management activities, ensuring that environmental projects are progressing according to schedule and budgets.
  • Organize project documentation and perform record keeping ensuring that all project-related documents are updated and properly filed.
  • Collaborate with the environmental team and other departments to enhance compliance procedures and practices.
  • Engage in educational opportunities to stay informed about industry trends and new regulations.


Your Expertise And Skills

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong interest in and understanding of environmental regulations and compliance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with project management software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
