Title: Engineering Intern (R&D)

Duration: 11 Months

Location: Round Lake, IL

Note From The Manager

For this position, we would like to fill it with someone who has a mechanical background, specifically with hands-on (testing & prototyping) and CAD experience. They will be supporting lab testing activities along with our 3D printing lab operations (setting up builds on the machines and cleaning parts).

Summary

Work on assignments that are simple or moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Normally receives no instruction on routine work, or general instructions on new assignments. Apply basic techniques and procedures to assigned projects.

Responsibilities

Responsible for performing a wide variety of research and/or development laboratory tasks and experiments.

May make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results.

Maintained medical device laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies.

May write experimental reports, summaries, and protocols.

May also develop and maintain record keeping for experiments performed.

Perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments.

Individuals usually is assigned routine assembly and testing portions of projects (e.g. Product performance and software script testing).

Qualifications

• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer skills such as word processing, data entry and e-mail
• Basic science and/or math skills
• Team orientation
• Mechanical or Electrical background would be preferred
• Strong documentation skills
• Following procedures, but also being able to think outside the box and troubleshoot issues found
  
  

Education & Experience

• Bachelors Degree
• 1-2 yrs of mechanical is strongly preferred, or engineering grads with some intern experience
• normal basic computer skills

Top Technical Skills Needed

• troubleshooting using basic lab equipment such as scopes
• meters, analytical balances
• Ability to understand technical schematics and specifications.
• strong computer experience with Microsoft tools, and statistical tools.
  
  

This is a position in an R&D lab which will usually require hands-on/on-site work.

Will they need to enter the clean room? NO

Hours: standard working hours 8-5 (can be adjusted +/- 1 hour if needed)
