We are a team of professionals who are empowering the workforce through transformational life coaching and personal development training. Our highly trained staff apply the latest findings from neuroscience research to maximize the success of those we serve. Our customers include the clients, staff, and leaders of many organizations in the public, non-profit and private sectors. These include the Oregon Department of Human Services, the Oregon Employment Department, WorkSource Oregon, Local Workforce Development Boards, K-12 school districts, community colleges, labor unions, and numerous private-sector businesses and business associations.

For individuals with the right set of attributes, we’ll support your on-going training and certification as a professional life coach, as well as on-going training in Adverse Childhood Experiences, Trauma-Informed Care and other relevant topics.

Graduates or current participants from the Peer Support Specialist program at Rogue Community College (or similar programs) are encouraged to apply, and we’ll support you in attaining your life coach certification as part of your on-going professional development.


The Work You’ll Be Doing

Empower is hiring an Empower Success Coach in Josephine County. These coaches will serve individuals and their families who are receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) from the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS). These are TANF clients who want to build their skills and get good jobs with good career pathways, so that they can earn a living-wage, move off public assistance, and move out of poverty. As their Life & Job Coach, you’ll be helping these clients who are engaged in various training, education, and job readiness / employment activities.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Individualized Life Coaching

· Seek to understand the unique strengths, challenges, and aspirations of clients.

· Develop personalized coaching plans to empower individuals to overcome obstacles and enhance their resilience in the face of challenges.

· Coach individuals in dynamic setting including on worksites, in the offices of ODHS and WorkSource Rogue Valley, virtually, over the phone, and within the community.

2. Empowerment Strategies

· Implement coaching strategies that promote self-confidence, self-advocacy, and a sense of empowerment among clients.

· Encourage goal setting and guide clients in creating actionable plans to achieve their objectives.

3. Resilience Building

· Provide tools and resources to help clients navigate setbacks, learn from failures, and build resilience in the pursuit of their goals.

· Foster a positive and growth-oriented mindset to help clients adapt to changes and challenges in the workplace.

· Connect to resources and information that assists clients to navigate challenges within the context of poverty, Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma-Informed Care.

4. Individualized Job Coaching

· Coach and support clients to grow, succeed, and follow-through in their chosen training, education, and job readiness / employment activities.

· Coach and facilitate the growth of personal effectiveness and soft skills / essential employability skills - especially through hands-on experiential learning at the worksites of employers who provide Supported Work Experience. (Essential employability skills include dependability, reliability, work ethic, integrity, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, etc.)

5. Build Collaborative Partnerships

· Establish and maintain close working partnerships with staff from WorkSource Rogue Valley, Oregon Department of Human Services, Rogue Community College, and other workforce development, human services, community partners.

· Work in close partnership with the employers at Supported Work Experience worksites to maximize the success of these TANF clients.

6. Skill Development

· Identify skill gaps and collaborate with clients and community partners to create targeted training plans.

· Assisting in connect clients with relevant community, human services, health, education, training, and employment resources and programs to enhance their life success and employability.

6. Monitoring and Evaluation

· Track and assess clients' progress, adjusting coaching strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and outcomes.

· Close communication with community partners involved in client’s support and success.

Qualifications:

· Professional Life Coach Certification completed, underway, or to be started (ICF accreditation strongly encouraged).

· GED/HS Diploma Completion (Associate of Arts or Bachelor Degree preferred).

· Spanish speaking is preferred.

· Prior life experience in receiving public assistance (TANF, SNAP) is desirable, but not required.

· Strong understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences, Trauma-Informed Care, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Experience in group training facilitation.

· Proven personal and professional accountability.

· Able to work with and empower vulnerable populations.

· Ability to adapt coaching strategies to the unique needs of individuals.

· Familiarity with workforce development programs and resources.

· Able to work in many situations. This position will be both in office and in service delivery area.

· Oregon Drivers License and clean driving record required.

· Reliable transportation for community-based work (milage is reimbursed)

· Ability to pass a criminal background check.

· Computer skills and ability to work virtually as needed.

Other:

· Position will include individual and group coaching and may include some workshop facilitation.

· This is a contract-based position. Contract renewable for successive years starting July 2025.


Position Pay, Benefits, and Details:

· Hourly position, 40-hours per week

· Pay range based on qualifications and experience: $17.50-22.50 per hour

Salary: $17.50 - $22.50 per hour
