Sol de Janeiro is seeking an experienced Director, Post-Producer to lead our video editing and image retouching team. This senior role will oversee the Associate Director of Retouching and the Post-Producer of Video, ensuring the seamless execution of all post-production activities. The Director of Post-Production will work closely with project managers to manage dates, timelines, and milestones, collaborating with the Executive Producer to implement efficient processes and workflows. This role will also spearhead forward-thinking initiatives to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness, leveraging new software and tools to enhance our post-production capabilities.

This role will report to the Executive Producer.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the post-production team for video editing and image retouching, providing strategic direction and guidance to achieve exceptional results.
  • Work closely with project managers to develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring all milestones are met on time.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer to implement efficient processes and workflows, constantly seeking opportunities to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in post-production, evaluating new software and tools to enhance our capabilities and streamline workflows.
  • Drive innovation and forward-thinking initiatives within the post-production department, challenging traditional methods and exploring new approaches to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Partner with Associate Creative Directors and Art Directors to understand creative objectives and execute all creative assets in alignment with brand guidelines and standards.
  • Oversee a team of retouchers and editors, providing mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Act as a liaison between creatives, editors, and retouchers, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the production process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in film, Media Production, Visual Arts, or related field a plus.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in post-production, with expertise in both video editing and image retouching.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to deliver their best work.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • MPM (Master Project Manager) certified or similar certificate a plus.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Experience with Wrike or similar Project Management platforms.
  • Smart, creative thinker with a sense of humor and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard post-production software and tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects), DaVinci Resolve, etc.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Previous experience in beauty, fashion, or lifestyle industries is a plus.
  • Forward-thinking mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, embrace change, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be located in NYC and Surrounding Areas. This role is a temp-to-perm opportunity. Well-qualified individuals seeking to counter a freelance trial will be asked to complete a Test Project.

Salary Range

$140,000—$150,000 USD

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with the possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
