DIRECTOR OF THEATRE ARTS PROGRAM- BEGINNING AUGUST 2024

The school seeks a candidate who can promote the school’s Lasallian Catholic mission of serving students and can promote the school’s core values of faith, integrity, and scholarship.

Primary Role

The Director of Theatre Arts coordinates, supervises, and provides artistic vision and direction to the Theatre Arts program (Company) at De La Salle. The Director ensures the Theatre Arts program is integral to the overall school co-curricular programming and creates mainstage productions, special projects, tours, educational programs, and outreach programs. The Director works with students to help them develop their interests and skills in all aspects of theatre through the production of at least two major performances per year and teaching four classes per semester. The Director of Theatre Arts is responsible for the artistic direction of a dramatic script, hiring, and supervision of all theatre staff and volunteers, as well as ensuring student safety and that all theatre activities are in accordance with the Lasallian Catholic mission and integral student outcomes of De La Salle High School.

  • Maintains open, helping relationships with students. Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • Effectively manages instructional time and student behavior.
  • Ensures that student growth and achievement are continuous and appropriate for age group and subject area.
  • Assumes responsibility for meeting course goals and expected school-wide learning results.
  • Attends and participates in department meetings, and professional development programs, as well as actively and continually participates in the co-curricular life of the school.
  • Works collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty, staff, administration, and parents.
  • Demonstrates evidence of commitment to a vision for 21st-century teaching and learning and the ability to bring such a commitment to service on a daily basis.
  • Minimally holds a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Single-subject teaching credential and graduate degree preferred.
  • Believes in the work of Lasallian Catholic education and shows evidence of developing the whole person through activities that help students grow in mind, body, soul, and spirit.
  • Has the skills to work with a variety of student needs and to serve multiple learning styles.
  • Uses school-based technology well, embraces effective practices in the chosen field of teaching/service, demonstrates strong communication skills, both written and spoken, and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Minimally holds a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Single-subject teaching credential and graduate degree preferred.
  • Qualified applicants who are Catholic receive priority consideration.

SALARY RANGE

  • The current step and column teacher salary scale ranges from $63,000 - $109,039, based on education and experience.
