Director of Sustainability

Position: Director of Sustainability

Location: Open to onsite (New Albany, Ohio), Hybrid, or Remote within the United States

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Summary/Objective

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Sustainability will lead our commitment to sustainable practices, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products and manufacturing processes. The Director ’s primary responsibility will be to oversee and drive the company's sustainability initiatives, ensuring the organization’s business practices and products a re aligned with long-term environmental goals.

  • Establish and oversee the comprehensive mission, execution, and effectiveness of sustainability programs and initiatives internally across Anomatic manufacturing plants in the US and China, as well as aligning the goals with external stakeholders
  • Proposes and implements strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, reduction of pollution, recycling, building and facility design, and general education on sustainability.
  • Define and communicate purpose to drive sustainable transformation while fostering internal cultural change.
  • Assesses and analyzes company policies and processes to identify areas in and processes to which improvements can be made in accordance with the organization's commitment to sustainability.
  • Oversees Anomatic Product Safety programs and reporting: REACH, FDA, Proposition 65, CONEG, RCRA, etc.
  • Collaborates with appropriate departmental managers to facilitate CSR/ESG monitoring and reporting.
  • Provides commercial team support for customer sustainability activities.
  • Drafts and prepares reports, presentations, and proposals including external CSR and Sustainability audits & reports (Annual & Quarterly CSR/ESG/Sustainability reporting, EcoVadis, CDP, TRASCE, Intertek, etc.).
  • Identifies and facilitates training as needed.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university in technical field, Biological or Environmental Science/Engineering, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Material Science, or related field, preferred
  • Five or more years of demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing sustainability programs in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience in consumer product sustainability program management (Cosmetics & Personal care, Food packaging, Household consumer product packaging, Consumer electronics).
  • Thorough and current knowledge of sustainability practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to drive initiatives from conception to implementation.
  • Professional certifications in sustainability, project management ISO management preferred.
  • Strong materials and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Knowledge of ISO accredited management systems (9001, 14001, 14064, 45001, 26000, etc.).
  • Ability to travel internationally, particularly between Europe, China and the United States

Salary Information

This role offers a competitive salary in the range of $120,000 to $200,000 and is eligible for bonus compensation as well. Actual compensation depends on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience and qualifications.
