The Director of Strategy acts as a principal advisor to leadership, shaping the trajectory of our Supplemental Education (SE) business and guiding our Merger & Acquisition (M&A) strategies. The Director of Strategy role meticulously balances in-depth analysis with broad strategic insight. The role serves as an innovator dedicated to fostering excellence and continuous growth and values the diverse perspectives that catalyze KNA’s success in the global education market.
Primary Responsibilities
Act as a key thought partner in shaping the strategic direction of the Supplemental Education business, aligning initiatives with the diverse needs and aspirations of learners globally.
Spearhead initiatives to discover new revenue avenues through innovative products, markets, and ideas that capitalize on Kaplan’s strengths.
Chart the course for M&A and partnership strategies, ensuring alignment with Kaplan's values to deepen our educational influence.
Conduct comprehensive market analyses to identify trends and opportunities within an evolving and inclusive customer demographic.
Articulate compelling and well-researched business cases for strategic initiatives, prioritizing broad-based benefits and widespread accessibility.
Lead Supplemental Ed's strategic and annual planning, harmonizing business objectives with financial foresight in collaboration with executive leadership.
Advise on and help prioritize strategic business actions and priorities, maintaining a clear focus on Kaplan’s mission and values.
Minimum Qualifications
Business-related degree required, CFA or MBA advantageous
At least five (5) years of relevant experience, preferably in strategy development within dynamic sectors; experience in the education industry is beneficial.
Proven engagement with senior leadership to enact meaningful organizational change.
Strategic and critical thinking capabilities, with the capacity to conceptualize initiatives that have a global impact.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, influence, and unite diverse groups across various levels of the organization, steering them towards shared strategic objectives.
Leadership qualities that nurture team development within an inclusive workplace ethos.
Resilience and perseverance in overcoming complex challenges, with a track record of delivering results in demanding scenarios.
Advanced financial literacy, evidenced by strategic financial planning and sophisticated quantitative analysis.
Mastery of MS PowerPoint and Excel, complemented by substantial analytical competencies for data-driven decision-making.
An independent, self-motivated approach, skilled in managing concurrent projects and meeting stringent deadlines.
