Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Retail Marketing Director. This is a great opportunity for a highly experienced individual to work closely with the founding team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on the next stage of growth. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about restaurant marketing, has experience launching new restaurants across multiple markets, enjoys leading teams, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.


As Retail Marketing Director, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and executing strategic marketing plans for our existing and new scoop shops in order to grow brand awareness and drive customer acquisition and retention.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement the Van Leeuwen marketing and sales-driving strategy for launching scoop shops in both new and existing markets
  • Work closely with Store Operations on sales building at the local level, including building awareness and driving sales for new store openings
  • Expand and implement the marketing playbook for existing scoop shop support, define store-specific community marketing plans to drive new customer awareness and acquisition
  • Develop and implement the sales-driving strategy for growing sales and building customer value in existing scoop shops
  • Build sustainable communities at the regional level to grow brand awareness in our existing and future store locations
  • Lead and oversee new store opening marketing efforts across all marketing verticals
  • Leverage sales data, consumer insights, guest relations data, and digital data to inform our retail marketing strategy
  • Identify and execute strategic and impactful initiatives related to partnerships, experiences and events that are catered to the market and neighborhood of our scoop shops
  • Build relationships with the community and neighboring businesses
  • Build and maintain retail marketing campaign calendar


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years professional experience in the marketing field supporting brick and mortar retail growth (preferably in the food space)
  • Passion for community building and people management
  • Deeply knowledgeable of the evolving consumer communications and brand environment
  • Seasoned manager with experience building and implementing strategic plans, leading teams, and driving results
  • A pro at networking, pitching and influencing across media, brand, and community partners (with the track record to prove it!), armed with strong existing relationships across food and retail outlets
  • Experience in agency management
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google-suite tools
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce and present clear status reports in a convincing and clear manner
  • Ability to multitask
  • Willingness to travel
