The Director of Business Development at GBC Food Services is a pivotal role aimed at spearheading our growth initiatives and expanding our market footprint. This individual will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic relationships, and securing contracts that align with our mission to deliver exceptional food service solutions. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in business development, preferably within the food service, grocery or related industries, and a track record of achieving significant growth.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Direct and mentor teams involved in business development activities to ensure alignment with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Development: Spearhead the discovery and pursuit of new opportunities in the food service sector, utilizing deep industry knowledge and connections to broaden market share and escalate revenue.
  • Market Intelligence: Execute thorough market research to pinpoint trends, assess the competitive field, and understand customer demands. Utilize these insights to guide strategic decisions and uncover new avenues for growth.
  • Client Partnership Excellence: Foster and sustain valuable relationships with key stakeholders, aligning with their specific needs to establish our firm as their go-to for food service solutions.
  • Dynamic Sales Leadership: Craft and enact forward-thinking sales strategies aimed at enhancing customer acquisition. Focus on sophisticated prospecting, impactful sales pitches, and hitting sales targets to optimize return on investment.
  • Empowering Team Growth: Lead and evolve a team of business development professionals. Offer mentorship and support to fuel team achievements and personal development.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field. An MBA is advantageous.
  • Significant experience in a business development role, with a strong focus on the food service or hospitality industry.
  • Grocery industry experience is highly preferred, with an emphasis on understanding the dynamics and opportunities within the grocery sector as it relates to food services.
  • Proven track record of identifying and securing new business opportunities, with the ability to leverage grocery market insights to drive strategic growth.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel extensively by various modes of transportation.
  • Capable of managing a mobile office and working effectively in various locations.

Work Environment

  • This role involves significant national travel to meet with potential clients and attend industry events.
