The Director of Membership and Youth/Family Programs (DMYFP) is responsible for leading and supervising the branch's Membership and Youth/Family departments. The DMYFP will be responsible for the effective delivery of the membership system, including membership recruitment, cause-driven tours, new member onboarding, member engagement/retention, and service and engagement. The DMYFP is also responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing high-quality youth, teens, and family programs.
Essential Functions
Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of
existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all
interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential
members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web
registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing
support to Program Directors on related issues.
Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget
for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances
Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures
and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on
financial transactions.
Collaborates with or supervises the Association AOA Coordinator to ensure effectiveness and
compliance with all 3rd party insurance payor agreements
Regularly monitors and audits 3rd party insurance membership swipes. Reconciles all
inconsistencies weekly.
Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to
promote the YMCA.
Leads assigned aspects of the fund-raising campaign.
Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments
of the community.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree in the related field and 2-3 years of related work
experience or High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency and 4-6 years of
related work experience.
Experience
2 years supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
Experience with standard business software
Certification(s) And Requirements
CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.

Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and
neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process:
completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services
(696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and
human resources department (s).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for
extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work
environment.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to
adjust.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
