Director, Membership & Youth and Family Programs

Position Summary

The Director of Membership and Youth/Family Programs (DMYFP) is responsible for leading and supervising the branch's Membership and Youth/Family departments. The DMYFP will be responsible for the effective delivery of the membership system, including membership recruitment, cause-driven tours, new member onboarding, member engagement/retention, and service and engagement. The DMYFP is also responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing high-quality youth, teens, and family programs.

Essential Functions

 Implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of

existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all

interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.

 Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.

Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

 Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential

members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web

registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing

support to Program Directors on related issues.

 Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget

for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances

 Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures

and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on

financial transactions.

 Collaborates with or supervises the Association AOA Coordinator to ensure effectiveness and

compliance with all 3rd party insurance payor agreements

 Regularly monitors and audits 3rd party insurance membership swipes. Reconciles all

inconsistencies weekly.

 Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to

promote the YMCA.

 Leads assigned aspects of the fund-raising campaign.

 Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.

 Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments

of the community.

 Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

 Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

 In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree in the related field and 2-3 years of related work

experience or High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency and 4-6 years of

related work experience.

Experience

 2 years supervisory experience in customer service preferred.

 Experience with standard business software

Certification(s) And Requirements

 CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.

 Excellent personal computer skills

 Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments

of the community.

 Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.

 Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and

perceptions

 Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and

neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process:

completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services

(696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and

human resources department (s).

Physical Demands

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for

extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.

 The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work

environment.

 The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to

adjust.

Work Environment

 The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
