The Director, Data Management & Analytics will help lead the transformation of our firm’s core data infrastructure, using the Microsoft data stack on prem and in Azure. This hands-on leader will manage multiple team leads and staff contributors along a transformation path that seeks to add efficiencies and new software and data structures to infrastructure currently supporting internal business intelligence as well as external client reporting.


The Director will have both build and run accountabilities for the evolving platform as well as for continued talent development of a diverse distributed team inclusive of both full time and contract resources. Expertise in managing and mentoring a range of skills and seniority will be paramount to success!


The leader will partner with the product owner, data owners, project managers, business users, data architects, and infrastructure engineers to form complete end-to end-solutions. The candidate will excel in an evolving fast-paced environment, and bring a work style marked by high energy, flexibility, quick learning, and collaboration.


The ideal candidate is someone who has:

  • Significant talent management experience including the ability to recruit, build and supervise design, development, and testing teams (including full time employees and contractors/vendors).
  • Successful track record delivering on data-platform projects of significant scale and complexity under focused timelines.
  • Technical proficiency to roll up sleeves and get “hands-on” whenever required.
  • Confidence and skill to navigate a technical stack that includes SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Data Services (Azure SQL Data Factory, Databricks), MicroStrategy, and PowerBI.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies including Agile.
  • Understanding and use of current DevOps and CI/CD practices and tools.
  • Clear communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Prior experience in an asset management firm with a focus on accounting, performance, or investment data is preferred.


What you will do:

  • Lead data engineers, business & data analysts, and QA specialists responsible for data model development, schema design, stored procedure and trigger development, SSIS/Azure Data Factory/Spark-based ETL processing, and reporting.
  • Coordinate staff activities, including hiring permanent and contract staff, performance appraisals and related personnel actions.
  • Own the delivery of work against schedule, quality, and velocity objectives
  • Offer skill-building, development and cross-training opportunities, to expand team skills and support business operations.
  • Establish development and testing control processes, oversee workflows, and ensure information security.
  • Supervise version control, release planning, deployment preparation and status reporting.
  • Participate in logical and physical data modeling sessions.

Education Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) / Bachelor of Arts (B.A) or equivalent experience
