Director of Finance - Portland, OR

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Finance to join our dynamic finance team in the manufacturing space. This pivotal role will help shape our financial management framework. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in technical accounting and reporting concepts (GAAP), cost accounting, budget to actual analysis and hands on experience with financial statement audits. Mastery of Excel, skilled at effectively prioritizing multiple deliverables in a fast paced ever evolving industry, be curious and have an eye for continuous improvement. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong technical analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the finance department, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and budget management.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement robust cost accounting procedures and controls to track production costs and improve financial performance.
  • Oversee comprehensive budget to actual analysis to support strategic decision-making and ensure adherence to stated financial goals.
  • Manage financial audits, coordinating with external auditors to ensure compliance and transparency.
  • Support the financial planning process, including annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term plans.
  • Implement and optimize financial systems and tools to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Spearhead initiatives to improve internal controls, streamline financial processes, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or CPA highly preferred.
  • At least 7 years of direct hands-on finance experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, cost accounting, and financial audits.
  • Exceptional Excel skills and ability to work within multiple financial systems and tooling.
  • Proven leadership abilities, excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple deliverables with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to a rapidly changing landscape and efficiently manage deliverables.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.


Work environment: Role can be remote or hybrid from our Portland, Oregon Headquarters
