This team supports the regulatory insurance team and supplies data to state departments like the DMV on how and when they write insurance policies. They also report on losses of data and types of policies written. This data goes into a shared data source, and the company has approximately 2,000 submissions on a yearly basis. All of this is done in ETL. There is a datamart around previous year’s insurance data that can be audited, analyzed and edited over the previous 3 years. The company has ramifications, and is possibly fined, if the data is late or wrong, and each state has their own rules around these policies and data reporting.
The Data Analysts will be responsible for mining data, analyzing requirements, writing SQL queries, and some technical investigation. There is lots of QA work for their 2,000 submissions which requires the DAs to multi-task, create test plans, and analyze test conditions. They partner with the ETL Developer team and QA teams to get the data deployed out into the environment. The environment is on prem as of today and is hosted in their data center. The 5 year goal is to migrate these platforms and data to the cloud.
