The Role

EBONY Media Group is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to serve as Copy Editor for the EBONY Content Team. This position will report into the Executive Director of Editorial and be responsible for editing, proof-reading and fact-checking multiple forms of content. EBONY is looking for an individual who will help to ensure EBONY’s style, tone and voice consistently and cohesively lives across all verticals on EBONY.com. The ideal candidate must be passionate about EBONY’s mission of “Moving Black Forward.”

Responsibilities (including, But Not Limited To)

• Copy edit monthly launch assets, longform articles, recaps and listicles
• Review all spelling, grammatical and style corrections
• Proofread corporate materials, internal decks and branded projects as needed
• Assist editors and freelancers with fact-checking and provide sound suggestions for story structure revisions
• Work closely with Senior Interactive Producer to meet copy deadlines
• Remain detailed-oriented and focused when processing large amounts of text
• Maintain and update EBONY’s Editorial team style guidelines to reflect company and industry standards
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Minimum 3 years of experience in digital media
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Strong collaboration skills with both staff and freelance writers
• Excellent written communication and grammar skills
• Thorough knowledge of SEO
