Construction Manager

Responsibilities:


  • Manage all employees and contractors assigned to work on the construction of renewable energy facilities.
  • Responsible for daily monitoring of construction quality to ensure that all work is installed in accordance with the plans, specifications, QA/QC requirements, code requirements, contract requirements and good construction practices. Communicate to the project manager and construction issues to the contractor and if unable to resolve to the project manager.
  • Monitor daily and review weekly Contractor’s schedule and project controls to ensure progress is being accurately reported. Assist and facilitate Contractor as appropriate to maintain progress. Review Contractor’s invoices, reports, etc. and verify construction milestone completion.
  • Participate and/or lead as appropriate daily, weekly and monthly project meetings. Maintain all job specific meeting minutes and necessary logs.
  • Act as liaison between various contractors in order to facilitate resolution of issues and maintain progress. Will be Owner’s site representative in order to minimize change order claims and impediments to progress.
  • Assist project manager in the review and approval of pay applications in accordance with the contractual terms including review and recommendation of change order approvals.
  • Monitor and facilitate tie-ins, start-up and testing to ensure proper turnover to operations. Participate in final project demobilization, documentation and close-out activities.
  • Provide leadership, support and training for the on site Acciona team.
  • Process, complete and maintain accurate documentation and records associated with the construction site including requests for information, submittals, change orders and drawings.
  • Responsible for the Safety and Environmental compliance of Acciona’s personnel and subcontractors on site during construction in accordance with federal, state and local laws, and Acciona policies, practices and procedures. Ensure all personnel and subcontractors meet technical and safety training requirements. Conduct and review safety analyses and reviews of hazards and energy sources.
  • Produce the daily reporting requirements for our internal and external customers, as well as KPI reporting.
  • Serve as the Acciona’s representative on site with land owners, customers and contractors during the construction phase.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements:


  • 2 or 4 year technical degree or equivalent work experience and training.
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction experience in power generation or heavy industrial construction projects, with an emphasis on electrical and heavy civil construction. 5 -7 years of construction supervisory experience, renewable energy is a plus.
  • Able to read, understand and use key project documents including the Engineering Services Agreement, Construction Services Agreement, Turbine Supply Agreement, permits, land use and easement agreements, drawings and specifications.
  • Be able to work independently, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and have experience supervising a team.
  • Ability to continuously monitor construction performance and quality.
  • Demonstrate continuous commitment to safe operations. Be an active role model and constant resource to the organization.
  • Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to generate reports, presentations and other documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Ability to relocate to the project sites during construction for a period of several months.
  • Ability to think and analyze situations in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders and work at heights of 300 feet.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international locations for extended periods of time.


Onboarding will take place in Chicago with immediate relocation to Canada upon completion of the onboarding period.
