Position Summary

Compliance Privacy Analyst: This is an individual contributor position that will support privacy operations with a focus on, but not limited to, international privacy laws and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

Working with the Sr. Director of Data Privacy, this position will support various aspects of Natera’s privacy operations with a focus on, but not limited to, international privacy laws and regulations. The individual will perform various duties as assigned by the Sr Director of Data Privacy and Privacy Office, working alone or in combination with other members of the Compliance and Privacy Office, to assist in:

  • the development and implementation of privacy controls. This includes but is not limited to collaborating with other business functions to understand relevant business processes and operations with privacy implications; performing periodic reviews and, as necessary, updating existing policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement of privacy practices, processes, and controls; and maintaining inventories as necessary to ensure/demonstrate compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations;
  • the development of efficient and practical processes with cross-functional dependencies, including information security and procurement/sourcing to ensure appropriate privacy risk assessment and mitigation;
  • the development of privacy trainings and awareness campaigns to further promote privacy awareness throughout organization;
  • the review and resolution of contract inquiries (escalation) by members of the organization’s legal team, as necessary to ensure safeguarding of personal data in compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • the assessment of, and gathering information to respond to, data subject access requests; supporting drafting of responsive communications;
  • as necessary, the investigation and assessment of privacy incidents, documentation of findings, and notification to applicable parties (when relevant), as well as tracking and validating appropriate mitigation actions;
  • conducting and summarizing research, when needed, on relevant privacy laws and regulations; and
  • performing other duties as necessary to support the Privacy Office.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree (in related field is preferred)
  • Critical thinking with strong writing skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Working independently on a day-to-day tactical level, while keeping larger strategic goals in view
  • Adept at working on multiple items at once, tracking each so none are dropped
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a legal or compliance setting
  • Experience working in clinical laboratories and/or pharma/biotech industries a plus
  • Experience in a compliance or auditing role a plus
  • International compliance experience a plus
  • Privacy or other compliance/ethics certification a plus (e.g., CIPP)
  • Paralegal experience/certification a plus

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of privacy regulations relevant to healthcare (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and/or Google G-Suite
  • Familiarity with JIRA or other work tracker/ticketing systems a plus
  • Strong people skills including the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Independent worker, a self-starter with strong organizational and planning skills
  • Manage time effectively and regularly meet expected deadlines
  • Ability to be productive and successful in an intense work environment
  • Demonstrated record of exercising good judgment, excellent attention to detail
  • General understanding of IT systems and/or experience liaising with IT partners a plus

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material
  • Duties may require work outside normal working hours (evenings) at times
  • Duties typically performed in a remote office setting
  • Travel required for this position: None
