Community Service Director

The Director of Community Services under the direct supervision of the Chief of Staff responsible for a wide variety of programmatic functions within the Community Services Division. These functions include but are not limited to youth engagement and outreach, oversight of the progressive employment program, providing technical assistance & support to community partners, critical incident management, and maintaining a high-level of communication with Division staff.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Cultivate new relationships and maintain existing relationships with partners to assist in the development of a shared vision.
  • In collaboration with partners, assist in the coordination and implementation of timely and appropriate community outreach activities (with a focus on resident engagement) and ensure CSC representation.
  • Attend community/neighborhood meetings as scheduled to keep abreast of issues, events, and community/neighborhood concerns.
  • Act as a representative for CSC and promote services and/or serve as a liaison for community-based referrals into the Workforce Development PEP program. Division.
  • Conduct community presentations and trainings to keep residents informed (i.e. at schools, community centers, churches, etc.).
  • Convene routine meetings with partners when necessary.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to new and existing community partners.
  • Assist in the coordination of on-going partner development and training in community building models of service and communication coordination for response.
  • Ensure implementation of Critical Incident Protocol internally and externally (response and follow-up procedures).
  • Ensure appropriate levels of data collection and management.
  • Submit programmatic reports on a timely basis.
  • Conduct tasks and assignments in relation to special projects as requested by the Directors.
  • Conduct weekly supervisory sessions with Job Developers/Job Coaches, Program Managers and Coordinators to review difficult cases, provide direction and guidance and to identify strengths and deficiencies with appropriate course(s) of action.

Education

Master’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related fields preferred, with a combination of 6 years of experience and education; Certification to work in a gang prevention and intervention program from an accredited outreach training program is a plus.

Experience And Skills

Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in youth violence outreach work and workforce development.

Demonstrated commitment to youth/family/community violence prevention and intervention, preferably as a street outreach worker or similar position

Ability to review and understand basic crime data and trends

Strong verbal communication skills

Ability to work with diverse populations
