With Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska, you’ll serve the over 50 rural communities in the Yukon Delta Region who come to us for care. Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.

Position Summary: As a key representative of YKHC’s Public Relations Department, it is essential that the Communications Specialist provides excellent customer service to YKHC employees and the public. Supports all YKHC department’s media needs by maintaining and enhancing professional media materials that promote and support YKHC programs. Assists in the writing of promotional material for YKHC departments and the public. Coordinates specific programs or activities as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  • College-AA degree in Marketing, Media, English or related field, or extensive experience in journalism, marketing, or design with over two years experience in related area.
  • Two years of experience in a customer service related position. Proficiency in the use of graphic design computer software, specifically: Microsoft Office, Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or equivalent software.
  • Understanding of cross-cultural work environment and familiarity with the YKHC service area. English writing skills required. Positive “can-do” attitude required. Ability to keep current on software updates and new applications which is useful for the performance of job duties and assignments. Bilingual Yup’ik/English preferred. Ability to manage large tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
