Clinical Data Abstractor Specialist - Remote | WFH

Position Overview

As a Clinical Abstraction Specialist, you'll leverage your healthcare expertise and data management skills to analyze clinical data, identify trends, and ensure compliance with established clinical and regulatory requirements. You'll play a vital role in abstracting and maintaining comprehensive data from electronic health records, supporting various cardiac registries such as the National Cardiovascular Disease Registry, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the American Heart Association.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately disseminate data from medical records in accordance with governing body's rules, algorithms, and protocols, staying updated on registry and regulatory changes.

Collaborate with internal team members and external vendors to ensure data accuracy, inter-rater reliability, and timely submission.

Participate in specialized committee or work group meetings to contribute to process improvements aimed at enhancing patient outcomes.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and trends, resolving clinical data discrepancies or outliers on completed abstracts.

Communicate performance considerations and improvement opportunities effectively through written and oral channels, reporting findings to management levels.

Demonstrate logical and analytical thinking to solve problems, with a strong eye for detail-oriented analysis and design.

Work independently or within a team environment, exhibiting strong multitasking and prioritization skills to manage high volumes of workload.

Utilize medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to extract facts from records, especially in cases of uncertain chart documentation.

Complete certifications as required for specific abstraction tasks.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.

Minimum One Year Of Experience In a Healthcare-related Field.

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 0-25 lbs., with frequent sitting, standing, walking, and repetitive movements.

Strong visual and auditory perception skills, with proficiency in keyboard use and data entry.

Willingness to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist, with the ability to lift objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

Professional license and/or certifications not required.
