Special Education / District Case Manager

TITLE: District Case Manager

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of School and Family Support Services

SUPERVISES: N/A

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-month work year. Other terms as set by BOE.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assists with educational evaluations and development on individual educational programs based on diagnostic testing and facilitates inclusive practices.

Typical Duties And Responsibilities

This description of the position of District Case Manager is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the supervisor according to varying needs.

  • Assist in educational evaluations, planning and implementing prescriptive programs based on individual testing and observations.
  • Attend PPT meetings and interprets results of educational test data for school administrators, teaching staff, parents, and other team members.
  • Confer with administrators, team members and parents in the development of IEPs.
  • Maintain appropriate records and reports as required by local, state, and federal government.
  • Maintain awareness of the district’s goals and objectives (DIP) and integrates and incorporates these into the special education programs.
  • Maintain and improve professional competencies to include research and developments in special education.
  • Help develop and coordinate transitional goals and objectives where appropriate.
  • Perform such other related tasks as the Executive Director of School and Family Support or his/her designee may assign.

Required Qualifications

  • Connecticut Certification in Special Education (065) or one of the following:
    • Connecticut Certification (061), (068), (070), (071)
  • Extensive teaching experience in field of specialization
  • Additional requirement as the Board may deem advisable
Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of diagnostic / screening tests and procedures
  • Experience at the PreK/Elementary/Middle School/High School level
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Annually by the Executive Director of School and Student Support Services

SALARY: $44,353 - $96,000 as determined by professional experience and NLEA contract.
