InfraHire is looking for a CAD Detailer in Houston, TX

We are looking for an experienced CAD Detailer to join our Art Department to support two exciting brands under Sabre Group. This employee is responsible for interpreting concept renderings and creating 2D and 3D fabrication designs. The ideal candidate has experience in Vectorworks (BIM-CAD software) and Illustrator plus experience in exhibit construction and design with mill/metal works. Hybrid work available. Position Description

The CAD Detailer will be able to translate client sketches and renderings and deconstruct them to identify the materials and construction needed to fabricate and produce custom designs. This position will report directly to the Art Director and works closely with the fabrication team.

Essential Functions

Detailing – Client Projects (70%)

• Prepare complete and complex design and construction drawings including checking and coordinating details and dimensions
• Draw in a 2D and 3D design using Vectorworks
• Use illustrator to lay out graphics on drawings and for the Graphic department to produce
• Work with fabrication team to produce CNC cut files and bill of material
• Drawings should consider the overall cost, ease of installation, mounting and remounting
• Review third party shop drawings
• Responsible for accurate file management
  
  

Customer Interface (5%)

• Prior to any client communications and meetings, this position must have a full understanding of the project scope
• Use the client feedback and redlines in design to make changes in drawing for final approval
• After client approves the design, this position will be the SME to explain the fabrication and installation process
  
  

Fabrication Interface (15%)

• Communication with fabrication team on files, construction material and process
• Be available to answer questions and address issues daily to ensure on time production
  
  

Meetings (10%)

• Fabrication meeting (weekly)
• Ad-Hoc meetings during production (daily)
• Discovery meeting (beginning of projects)
• Client meeting (after drawing or as needed)
• Department meeting L-10 (bi-weekly)
• Impromptu meetings outside of production
  
  

Competencies

• Attention to detail with exceptional accuracy

• Effective communication skills with the ability to work with multiple departments
• Team Player who thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Expert level of experience in: Vectorworks, Adobe CS, Illustrator, CNC Cut Files & Photoshop
• Knowledgeable in production art with 3D detailing and technical/mechanical construction
• Proficient in Google and Microsoft environments
  
  

Candidate Should Possess

• BA in Architecture or Interior Design
• 3+ years using Vectorworks (BIM-CAD Software) & Illustrator
• 2+ years experience in Photoshop
• Technical and mechanical drawing/construction experience in production art
• Experience in custom fabrication
