Company overview: Reboot Rx is the Boston-based tech nonprofit startup dedicated to fast-tracking the development of affordable cancer treatments using FDA-approved non-cancer generic drugs (rebootrx.org). Our proprietary evidence synthesis technology, powered by AI and machine learning, quickly sifts through large amounts of data to help us find the most promising generic drugs to repurpose for cancer. We then advance the drugs into the standard of care for patients through innovative partnerships and policy development. Our initial focus has been on prostate cancer, and we are now scaling our approach to other cancer types.


Position description: We are seeking a Biomedical Scientist to contribute to biomedical data analysis, clinical development, go-to-market strategy research, policy, writing projects, and other initiatives, based on the individual’s interests and skillset. The Biomedical Scientist will report to the Director of Programs & Operations and work closely with other members of the small, highly collaborative Reboot Rx team. This individual should thrive on jumping in however is needed to help the team succeed and be particularly excited to join a nonprofit startup. This role has significant opportunities for professional development and growth within the organization. Responsibilities may include:

  • Reviewing data on generic drugs tested as cancer treatments, including from published clinical trials and preclinical mechanism of action studies, to evaluate potential repurposing opportunities.
  • Curating and analyzing data to build training datasets for our AI technology and enhance its performance.
  • Preparing materials with data on our top drug candidates (e.g., briefing books and slide decks).
  • Supporting clinical development, including external collaborations to generate new data through real-world evidence studies and new clinical trials.
  • Researching implementation strategies and new healthcare and regulatory policy initiatives to bring repurposed generic drugs into the standard of care for patients.


Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • We are open to a wide range of experience for this role, from entry-level candidates with applicable internship and/or educational experience, through advanced degree candidates with up to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of BS/BA in biomedical sciences or related field.
  • Knowledge of cancer biology-related and clinical research concepts.
  • Experience conducting scientific research and data extraction.
  • Ability to understand scientific literature, especially studies with clinical data in oncology.
  • Meticulous writing and communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Open-minded and inquisitive with a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Ability to problem-solve and quickly learn new skills and software.
  • Effective at working independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexible and adaptable to contribute to the organization in multiple ways.


Details: This is a remote, full-time role. While Reboot Rx operates during typical Eastern Time work hours, the individual can live anywhere within the U.S. Benefits include healthcare reimbursement, an accommodating work schedule, generous PTO plus 14 company-wide holidays, and an employer-matched 401(k) retirement plan with Roth options.
