Associate Director of Research – Genetic Counseling Graduate Program (GCGP)


The GCGP is seeking outstanding candidates to join our leadership team to support our graduate training program in research, teaching and administration. The Associate Director of Research is responsible for administration, coordination and assessment of, and education in, the research program within the Genetic Counseling Graduate Program. The primary responsibility is instruction in and oversight of M.S. thesis work of the GCGP students. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Program Director in the program’s instructional, administrative and other functions. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:


· Orient students to thesis project requirements and oversee timeline adherence

· Work with GCGP Leadership, instructors and students regarding thesis topic and topic expert/advisor selection

· Communicate with outside organizations regarding collaborative thesis research opportunities

· Assist students with Kean University IRB application completion and submission

· Manage thesis manuscript completion and submission, and abstract poster creation and submission to university and professional annual conference

· Supervise statistical analyses for thesis projects

· Classroom teaching and course coordination

· Assess, review and advance research program and curriculum

· Oversee GCGP graduate research assistants

· Assist with program admissions, marketing and recruitment

· Assist with program strategic planning, development and outcomes assessment

· Participate in conferences, seminars or meetings as required


Qualifications: Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling/Human Genetics from an accredited program; certification by ABGC or ABMGG; and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a genetic counselor is required. Professionals in a related clinical genetics field may be considered with

equivalent experience. Five years of experience is preferred. Candidate must have knowledge and experience in teaching and research and excellent organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
