Position Overview:

In the role of Assistant Editor, you will partner closely with our BullsTV Production team and assist in all areas of Postproduction by creating industry-leading digital video content for online and mobile distribution by the Chicago Bulls brand. This is an opportunity to grow with us in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The Assistant Editor will have an excellent eye for detail as they handle postproduction work on a variety of projects.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to present ideas and opportunities for improving the visual delivery of the video programs. Additional job responsibilities include:

  • Work with Editor, Producer and Production team to finish pieces based on editorial goals; appeal to sports fans, serve corporate partners and extend the Chicago Bulls brand.
  • Edit video elements which could include, long-form, doc-style, all-access programming, branded content, raw interviews, still photos, video highlights, audio and graphics.
  • Assist with Color/Audio Prep and deliverables and communicate/facilitate with outside vendors
  • Directly responsible for logging, archiving, and organizing footage and other tasks related to postproduction.
  • Ability to prepare projects and gather elements; help sync footage, assemble b-roll selects / string outs & footage encoding / transcoding
  • Transcoding multiple HD file formats, logging and selecting footage, music and sound design implementation, web encoding/posting and finish prep.
  • Cue sheet management & reporting of music used in BullsTV videos throughout the season and assist Editor in the search/organization of music needs/requests.
  • Maintain brand consistency and quality of style and content.
  • Maintain editing systems and perform routine maintenance and upgrades.
  • Coordinate, backup and archive footage and finished projects to the server
  • Maintenance, Logging and Tagging of our Media Asset Management system Iconik
  • Assist in NBA Media Archive requests, transcoding, conversions, etc., and facilitate external and internal video requests


Qualifications:

As an ideal candidate, you will be a highly organized self-starter who works well across departments and has experience in short form content. In addition, you will have the following:

  • Degree in film or media-related field
  • At least 1 year of professional Editorial experience with a Sports team, news outlet, media agency or production company
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and experience with other creative programs such as After Effects and Photoshop.
  • Experience with Media Asset Management programs such as Iconik or CatDV?
  • Be comfortable with most video codecs and formats
  • Ability to be meticulous, technical, organized, and creative at the same time
  • Ability to work independently and under close direction
  • Experience in deadline driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and be ability to give and receive critical feedback in a small team environment
  • Initiative and dedication to challenge self and continually strive for improvement


Hours in this role are variable and subject to change based on NBA and editorial schedules.
