The Assistant Art Director is a talented, innovative designer with a comprehensive knowledge of both sports and digital design. This role will primarily work with Notre Dame Football, assisting the Senior Art Director in the creation of recruiting content, internal graphics for the football program, set design, file and photo management, and various graphic/digital content for all football social media platforms.

While the role has a heavy emphasis on football, the Assistant Art Director sits within the Fighting Irish Media ( FIM ) creative team, and will therefore work with multiple departments and sports outside of football. As needed, this role will execute additional design projects for FIM and the broader athletic department, including but not limited to spring sports and student-athlete development programs. It is therefore essential to be a great communicator and team player, as this role will collaborate with the larger FIM creative team, athletics administrators, coaches, and staff. The Assistant Art Director is a hard-working creative thinker, interested in growing with and contributing to the overall Notre Dame Athletics design team.

A portfolio (either web link or PDF ) is required to be considered for this position.

In This Role, You Will Be Expected To

  • Manage the completion of all day-to-day projects, with guidance from the Senior Art Director and Creative Director
  • Work within the yearly visual direction for Athletics, ensuring our sports are visually cohesive.
  • Use awareness of industry trends in style and technology, both current and next-generation, to foster innovation.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Communicates proactively, clearly, and promptly
  • Support Fighting Irish Media in auxiliary roles, helping to capitalize on other team members’ ideas and creations.
  • Foster and promote a safe, collaborative, creative culture within Fighting Irish Media, and the broader Athletics department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
  • 1 to 2 years experience
  • Highly skilled in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop / Illustrator expert, After Effects and InDesign knowledge a plus)
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Understands needs of a D1 Athletics program
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Understanding of and compliance with NCAA , ACC , and ND rules and regulations is imperative.
