Art Gallery Operations Manager
This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary range of $58,000 to $62,000. Benefits include three weeks paid vacation, sick leave, and contribution to medical insurance. Applicants should have a four-year degree and be prepared to provide three professional references.
Requirements:
At least six years experience as a registrar or gallery manager in a contemporary art gallery setting, with strong, practical knowledge of and working relationships in the art world. Also required: hands-on experience with exhibitions management, art fairs, sales, contract negotiation with vendors and suppliers, art shipping and logistics, art handling, gallery administration, daily operations, and public programming & interaction.
Job Outline:
Artwork Inventory and Shipping Management
- Negotiating shipping contracts and quotes
- Managing domestic and international shipping logistics
Exhibition Management
- Overseeing all assets, documents, listings and related sales materials
- Coordinating with director re: openings, event planning and related programming
Sales
- Client Communication and Coordination including gallery walk-throughs
- Invoicing and Shipment Management
Staff Management
- Interviewing, Hiring, and Training of art handlers, assistants and interns
- Staff Management - management of gallery assistants, interns, art handlers, and cleaning staff
Artist Management
- Oversight of all artist contracts and consignment agreements
- Management of all artist related documents
Workplace Management
- Vendor and Supplier Coordination including contract negotiation
- Inventory and Supply Management
Budgeting
- Preparation and maintenance of budget for gallery, events and general operations
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, yearly, and on-demand reports
